The Pohatcong Recreation Association held a meeting on Thursday September 14, 2001 with 10 people present, including Dale Cells, President; Donna Diehl, Treasurer and Karen Clasen, Secretary. The August minutes were read and approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT
A report was given. Please attend a public recreation meeting for this information.
CHEERING: Jeannie Vail reported pictures would be taken on September 19th. Player appreciation night will be held on September 21st from 5:00 to 6:30 at the Huntington field. The Biddy and Midget squads did very well at clinic this year. Only Midgets will cheer this year for wrestling. A Midget camp will be held on November 4th.
FOOTBALL: No Report
SOCCER: Darrell Swinicki reported Soccer Fest will be held October 13th, 14th for the Intermediate and senior teams, and October 21st for girls only teams. The fundraiser was held on September 10th. The 1st grade team was not issued shorts due to a shortage, it was decided that shorts be purchased and that all teams receive shirts and shorts with the exception of Kindergarten Kickers whom will only be issued shirts.
Darrell will take over as the Director of Basketball this year, therefore the Association is in need of a new Director for the Soccer Program.
WRESTLING: Bob Moyer has requested new uniforms and warm up suits for the J.V. team, Dale has asked Bob to submit a proposal for this purchase. Bob reported the league would allow dual rosters for this year. Bob inquired as to whether physicals are required, Dale advised Bob to speak with Jay to get the details.
BASKETBALL: Darrell Swinicki will be taking over as the Director. Darrell reported that he attended a CBL league meeting , the league consists of 360 teams. The league has a web site www.cbl basketball.org, the Directors will input scores for all home games. Another meeting will be held on September 30th at which time a game schedule must be submitted to the league. Darrell will coordinate the use of the school with the Wrestling, and Cheerleading Directors.
Darrell has requested new uniforms for all of the boy’s teams.
SOFTBALL: Dale Hummer reported equipment has been returned, but there are still uniforms that have not been returned. Dale has requested new catchers head gear with adjustable straps for next year. The bylaws will have to be amended next year to re-structure the age groups. Dale has informed the Association that he will require some new uniforms for next year.
BASEBALL: Dale Cells reported changes for next year which are not yet official will be two Biddy levels, ages 7 & 8, and ages 9 & 10. Peewees will be ages 5& 6, Midgets and Juniors will remain the same. A meeting will be held on September 26th to address all of the Phillipsburg 7th,8th grade programs. Fall baseball has started with Mike Rossetti as the coach of the 12 year old team, they have played they’re first game and won with a score of 8-4.
HOCKEY: No Report
TOWNSHIP REPORT
Sal reported the Warren Glenn walking, running trails are complete. The Township has new play ground equipment and would like to know where it should be installed. The poles for lights are up at the Crestwood Field but still require to be hooked up, a water hook up will be next for water fountains at this field. The question of a portable concession stand for Crestwood Field is still to be addressed. Sal will advise the status of the Recreation Association Budget, which was submitted to the Township on November 26, 2000. Sal is in the process of getting details in regards to the catch basin, by the Wal-Mart Plaza.
Sal has stated that if the Association decides to add on to the Huntington concession stand the Township will dig the footings, provided the addition will be block.
COMMITTEE REPORT
Dale Cells reported that mailings have been sent out for the annual golf tournament. Sponsors and players are both still needed. The tournament will be held October 1st rain or shine. The Association has agreed that half of the profits made from the golf outing will be contributed to the World Trade Center Red Cross Disaster Fund.

The question of having 1 fundraiser for all year was discussed, some suggestions were for the Association to have a Casino Night.
Nominations
Nominations for officers were held. Dale Cells was nominated for President, Rich Etter, and Keith Bray was nominated for Vice President, Donna Diehl was nominated for Treasurer, and Karen Clasen was nominated for Secretary.
Nominations for the Grievance Committee are as follows: Dale Hummer,Jan Rosetti,Jim Kern, and Jim Burke. Alternates nominated were Bob Moyer and Russell Smith. Nominations will remain open until the next meeting.
Dale Hummer made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Jim Burke seconded the motion. It was voted unanimously passed and the meeting was adjourned.
