The Pohatcong Recreation Association held a meeting on Thursday November 8, 2001, with 21 people present, including Dale Cells, President; Keith Bray, Vice President; Donna Diehl, Treasurer; and Karen Clasen Secretary. The October minutes were read with one correction as follows, The Golf outing raised $5100.00.

                                                SPORTS

 

CHEERING: Jeannie Vail reported 12 girls have signed up for the Midget Wrestling cheering squad. The Pohatcong School will allow the cheerleaders to use the gym from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. The fundraiser will be candy. Jeannie made a suggestion to have a prize for the person selling the most boxes of candy.

 

 FOOTBALL: Rich Etter reported that effective November 8th he will be retiring as the Football Director, but he will be available to help secure coaches for next year. The league dinner will be held on November 16th at 6:00pm, Rich has requested that Dale Cells attend in his place. Uniforms for the Midget team have been collected. The football program will be run by committee next year, Dennis Brousseau will head the committee. A group of concerned parents attended the meeting to discuss the behavior of one particular parent. Rich received many complaints regarding this parent. It was stated that this parent was harassing coaches, making threatening comments, and behaving in a UN-sportsman like conduct at the football games this year. After much discuss by the Association the following was decided; Dale Cells will personally speak to this parent and ask him to leave the Pohatcong football program, Dale will contact a lawyer regarding this situation, a registered letter will be sent to the parent asking him to attend the December Recreation meeting. Dennis will get a signed list of complaints from the football parents involved and then Dale will approach the league regarding this matter. The Association will review the Parents code Of Ethics, and Grievance procedure to add a clause to include parents.

 

 SOCCER:  Darrell Swinicki reported that Chris Meeny will be taking over as Director, and he will help Chris get acclimated.

 

 WRESTLING:  Bob Moyer reported that practice has started. The Association approved the purchase of 25 Varsity warm up suits at $60.00 each, and 35 sets Junior Varsity warm ups at  $25.00 each.

 

BASKETBALL: Darrell Swinicki reported that there are 8 teams this year, consisting of 1 team each for girls age 13 and under, girls 11 and under, girls 9 and under, and boys 13 and under, and 2 teams each for boys 11 and under, and boys 9 and under. The season will begin approximately December 5th and run through the 2nd week of March.Darrell has requested new uniforms, the purchase has been approved to buy uniforms for 2 teams per year at the cost of $39.00 each. Darrell reported the Pohatcong School scoreboard has been repaired.

BASEBALL:  Mike Rosetti reported the fall league went well.

                                         Township Report

The new playground equipment will not be installed until spring of next year, due to the weather. The Boro of Alpha must be contacted in order to get water to the Crestwood Field. Keith Bray will be overseeing some of the current Township projects.

 

                                         COMMITTEE REPORT

 

Keith Bray will be spearheading the project to put a baseball field at the Pohatcong School.

Dale Cells has been contacted in regards to a proposal to start a girls Powder Puff Flag Football team, Dale will investigate and find out more information.

 

  

Jim Burke made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Darrell Swinicki seconded the motion. It was voted unanimously passed and the meeting was adjourned.
